I made this prototype in Unity for my current game project. This was my first time learning how to use Unity. I learned how to add objects into a scene, sky boxes, and basic collision between two game objects. The idea of the game is that two players race each other around an obstacle course. The prototype represents the core mechanic we want for the game. We want the players to be able to decide if they want to take the risky shorter path or the longer, safer path. In the screenshot, the hill with the platforms represents the safer path and the path on the right is the riskier path. I learned that setting up a project is pretty easy with Unity. Applying lighting and textures was a simple drag and drop feature. One of the important things I learned was making scripts and applying them to objects. Also, I liked the hierarchy of objects and how you can put smaller objects into a parent object. I did this with the trees where the sphere and the branches were put into the tree hierarchy. I enjoyed making the prototype and learned a lot about how to do basic operations in Unity. |
